Indian innovation: Why we need to look beyond Silicon Valley



  • Mint newspaper today carried a fantastic article on Indian innovation might be stalling. They say:

    Indian innovation and entrepreneurship suffer because they rely too much on the Silicon Valley model without the Valley’s infrastructure and ethos

    Do read the entire article on their website.

    I think out of all the factors they've mentioned, getting the universities part right might be the key. What do you think?

  • But risk aversion is rooted in our culture. I wonder what could be the underlying cause. Sometimes I feel the fact that majority of Indians in recent history have been poor has a ton to do with us opting for safer options.

  • Plus the fact that there's a definite societal bias on achieving stability, which actually make people more averse to taking risks?
