I evaluated various hybrid frameworks while building my first mobile app for a side project. I decided to go with Ionic (which is built on top of cordova and can utilize plugins built for cordova / phonegap). There are cordova libraries for almost all native functions (even running app as a background service).
That's the thing. As of now, Ionic manages to do everything. And performance isn't such a big problem, is it?
@paraschopra React Native looks nice but it is missing support for basic features like Push Notifications for Android. I would wait for a while before hopping on to React Native. But I agree, it is the future.
True, that. React Native is the future. So long as it starts supporting more features, including tying into more libraries.
Thanks for posting this. It looks like Shruti has put in a great deal of effort in getting the UX right. If she sees the thread, would love to know how did she go about interviewing current users for the redesign? My experience with redesign tells that current users are always somewhat hesitant of change, but a designer has to incorporate their inputs. So it's always a tricky task to accomplish.
Interestingly I uninstalled this app a few minutes ago. I guess I downloaded hotify one and half months ago when I found you guys on AnglelList.
I already have dailyhunt (yes ,the cluttered coming of age newshunt) but I can cope with it. Unless someone makes content discovery 10X better ,I don't want another app. At least not an app which curates from mainstream blogs and media sources. Maybe I am missing out a lot,but the good thing is that I have no time to think am missing out. For niche sites like goal.com and hyperlocal news,it's a bit different. I love the names which popup in hyperlocal news . It's so cool to know about people in my locality whom I might never come to know otherwise !
On a different note, I like curated newsletters . I love those weekly mails that Pocket sends me cause it's just 5 articles based on my consumption history and there is no paradox of choice.
Nothing against you guys ! Maybe I didn't spend much time around hotify to understand or I am not the ideal user you want
